"I just try to get them the puck and get to the net and good things are happening. Playing with those two almost makes the game a little easier." - Trevor Lewis on playing on the top line...
It's all about knowing your role! Something DBrown could never embrace. Brown fancied himself more of a puck handler than what he really is - a glorified grinder.

I hope TL stays on the top line because he does seperate people from the puck, isn't afraid to take a hit, he's a bulldog on the forecheck, and knows to give it up and go the net. Good on Lewie!

I agree with you completely when it comes to Brown, he is a glorified grinder, I was hoping he didnt resign with the kings. He seems like he's going to be the next mike richards.

Trevor Lewis and Dwight King are beauts, I wish we had them.

I think Lewis should stay on the first line. Brown works better on the third line, which, again raises the question of him playing in L.A. I like Brown's play a lot, just not the price tag. But I'm really not worried about that now, just the playoffs. Hoping we can sneak in.

If you guys don't want Dustin Brown, we'll gladly trade you back Braydon Schenn for him.

I don't mean to rain on anyones parade, but... Is it possible that Lewis's stats look so good with top players because he only plays with them when he's on his A game? Like, if the puck drops and Lewis's game is off, he's gonna see 4th line ice. So not only is his game off, but he'll have worse linemates and ice time. Now, if he shows up and is flying, he gets to play with Kopitar-Gaborik. Not a bad reward, and its gonna reflect very positively in his advanced stats. Just some food for thought I guess

You can say that is true. But then again, when you put a good player with bad players, odds are those good players won't shine as bright as they would if they were playing with other good players. For example, Brown was playing on the top line and he wasn't productive. Nobody on that line really was. Lewis has had one good game with the top line, let's wait and see of it continues before saying he has been undervalued.

If my memory is correct, I do believe the coaching staff did give him the opportunity to play with the big boys but the problem with him in his earlier career was that he couldn't finish. Yes, he had the breakout, the nice dish pass, or the opportunity to score in a high scoring chance. But what the coaches lost faith in him and seen that he needed more time to develop so they gave him his other alternative skill which was being a defensive specialist. I think what you are seeing now is that the coaches are trusting him and giving him the opportunity to shine. Lewis was suppose to be a 2nd line winger when we drafted him. I really hope he uses this opportunity and go full throttle on it. I always love his hustle and speed that always made him dangerous on the ice. Thanks, Go kings!!!

While this might be argued, IMO, Lewis always brings his same game. He is what he is, and he knows this and best of all is that he is good with it. The thing with role players is that the good ones always fill their role. I think of a guy like Maltby, granted I didn't watch every Wings game like I do the Kings, but he seemed to play the same game pretty consistantly. He was a key role player. Same with TL. You always know what you're going to get on any given night. Is he the most skilled passer? No. Does he finish his break away chances as often as you'd like? No. Does his compete always run high? Yes. Will he take a hit to make play? Yes. Does he know his role? Hell Yes. On a team of inconsistency, Lewie's play is pretty constant.

his speed and pressure will inevitably create turnover chances in the offensive zone. having players like kopi and gabo around to capitalize should only help.

Well, he has had decent stats all year even when on the 4th line. His dCorsi being positive also means that he has been playing much better than your average 4th liner. He has played so little with the top line it wouldn't really impact his overall analytics much. Most of those numbers are coming from when he is playing with the bottom 6.

But you do have a point in mentioning how he is used depending on the situation or feel for the game. Sutter is a juggler, and it's not surprising to see Lewis go from 4th to 1st in the course of a game if he feels the 4th line or someone individually is playing alright.
